Majuli Raas Mahotsav transforms the river island's satras, naamghars, community halls and temporary stages into centres of devotional theatre. Local performers enact episodes from the life of Krishna through music, dance, acting, masks, costumes and carefully constructed stage settings. Different satras present distinct interpretations, making the event valuable for both cultural documentation and performance photography.
